Dr. Ashok S. Ganguly is a distinguished Indian business leader and public figure who has made significant contributions to industry, governance, and national advisory roles over several decades. 

He spent over 35 years in leadership roles at Unilever and its Indian subsidiary. He also served as Chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd from 1980 to 1990 and was later on the Unilever global board from 1990 to 1997, reflecting his influence in multinational corporate strategy and operations.

Beyond his corporate career, he has played prominent roles in advisory and governance institutions. He was a nominated Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha (2009–2015) and has served as Director on the central board of the Reserve Bank of India (2000–2009). His public service includes membership of the Prime Minister’s Council on Trade and Industry, the National Knowledge Commission, the India-USA CEO Council, UK Advisory Board of Research Councils, and various industry and research advisory boards. He has also held directorships with major companies including Wipro and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

Dr. Ganguly’s contributions have been recognised with some of India’s highest civilian honours: Padma Bhushan (1987) and Padma Vibhushan (2009), reflecting his impact on business and national development.
