RGF strengthens community participation in environmental protection through awareness, youth engagement and action-based learning. Our work connects local practices with sustainable development goals, nurturing eco-conscious communities and promoting long-term stewardship of natural resources. Among the many activities we have under this are

ECOLABS was initiated to build environmental awareness among children and youth, encouraging them to understand nature, local ecosystems and sustainable living. Through periodic informal gatherings of local youth for Environmental and Cultural Opportunities for Livelihood Advancement and Building Sustainability (ECOLABS), interactive sessions, field-based learning and community activities, ECOLABS fosters curiosity, responsibility and practical environmental knowledge. Over time, it has evolved into a strong platform that inspires young people to participate in conservation and eco-friendly practices.
Launched in 2019, the Sadbhavana Tree Plantation Drive was started to restore green cover, build community stewardship and raise climate awareness while honouring Rajiv Gandhi’s memory (nurseries begin on 21 May — his punya tithi — and the drive concludes on 20 August, his birth anniversary). This initiative engages youth, women and farmers across states, fostering their participation in establishing nurseries, planting saplings and providing follow-up care. Since 2019, the drive planted over 3,05,128 saplings across 1040 locations in 21 states, demonstrating growing community ownership and measurable ecological impact.

Through studies, discussions, webinars and expert interactions, RGF creates a space for public learning on issues such as water management, sustainable agriculture, pollution and climate change. These dialogues connect grassroots experiences with research insights, helping communities, practitioners and policymakers engage with environmental challenges in informed and meaningful ways.
